Description

The XT-IDE is a solution that allows the use of modern HDDs or SSDs with older BIOS revisions on systems ranging from XT to Pentium-class.

Our version of this adapter comes fully configured and has edge beveling on the connector for easier insertion into the motherboard.

The following options are offered for this product:

a) SLOT8 module addition (IBM 5155 PC Portable and 5160 PC/XT slot 8 – Add $25)

b) PIN20 5V Support.  If you opt for this feature, you gain the ability to connect a CF card straight to the IDE port with an adapter, and you do not need to supply the 5V with a separate cable (but you lose IDE cable keying).  Please indicate in the notes during the checkout process whether you require this feature (By default, this is permanently and irreversibly disabled and you will not be able to add it yourself later because PIN20 will be completely removed).

c) Large ROM support – required for “L” suffix pre-programmed ROMs (Add $10)

Available ROMs to choose from (“L” indicates that ROM is also available as a large option with more features — please specify your requirement at the review stage during checkout):

XT(L) – for 8088 or 8086 machines
XTP(L) – for NEC V20-based 8088 machines
AT(L) – for 286-class machines
PS2(L) – for PS/2 models
386(L) – for modern machines – will work on anything 386 or newer.

The card will ship with the 386 ROM (for 386 to Pentium-class CPUs) if no ROM is specified in the review notes during the checkout process.

The card is shipped with the following configuration:
-Firmware revision 625 (please specify in the checkout notes if you require a specific version)
-IRQ Polling enabled – set to IRQ14
-EEPROM at 0xD000 and I/O at 0x300
-Boot to floppy first and then to HDD
-Card set to high-speed mode (700-800KB speed)
